We Review Stores the Way Customers Do
Shop Reviews was built on a simple observation: most store owners are too close to their own store to see what their customers see. We provide the outside perspective that identifies what's actually stopping people from buying.
Why We Started
Shop Reviews started after years of watching good products fail to sell — not because of the products themselves, but because of the stores they were sold through. Slow load times, confusing navigation, missing trust signals, checkout friction — the same issues kept appearing across different stores, different platforms, different niches.
The problem wasn't that store owners didn't care. It was that they were too familiar with their own store to notice what a first-time visitor would experience. They'd built the store themselves, or watched it being built. They knew where everything was. They trusted it because they'd made it.
A customer arriving for the first time has none of that context. They're making a split-second judgement about whether to trust the store, whether the product is right for them, and whether the purchase process is worth their time. If anything creates doubt or friction, they leave.
Shop Reviews exists to bridge that gap — to give store owners an honest, structured view of their store from the outside, with specific findings and actionable recommendations rather than vague advice.
What We're Here to Do
Give every online store owner access to the kind of honest, structured feedback that helps them understand exactly what's affecting their performance — and what to do about it.
How We Work
Honest over comfortable
We report what we find, not what store owners want to hear. A review that glosses over real problems isn't useful to anyone.
Specific over vague
Every finding comes with a specific recommendation. We don't say 'improve your product pages' — we say what's missing and what to do about it.
Customer perspective first
We approach every review as a first-time visitor, not as someone who already knows the store. That's the perspective that matters.
Platform-aware
Recommendations are grounded in what's actually achievable on your platform. We don't suggest solutions that aren't available to you.
What We Bring to a Review
6
Review categories
Performance, SEO, conversion, UX, trust, and checkout — every area that affects whether a visitor becomes a buyer.
20+
Specific checkpoints
Each review covers more than 20 individual checkpoints, documented and prioritised by impact.
Any
Platform
We review stores on Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Webflow, and others.
100%
Human review
Every review is conducted by a person, not automated tooling. We look at your store the way a customer does.
Our Review Approach
We don't run your store through an automated checker and call it a review. We visit your store as a customer would — starting from the homepage, navigating to products, attempting to complete a purchase — and document what we find at each stage.
